Table borders have arrows

I'm having a problem with a presentation which contains a number of tables
where some of the borders have arrows. I've used the instructions in the MS
Knowledgebase Article 248236 (at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q248236&id=248236&SD)
to change the default borders to regular lines. However, although this works
for new tables it does not help me with the existing tables in the
presentation.
This presentation was worked on in PPT 2003 and PPT2000. I'm guessing that
the PPT2000 user added additional columns and rows to the tables which
adopted the arrowhead borders so the table borders are now a mix of lines
and arrow. Should I recreate all the tables or is there a easier fix?

Since the KB article doesn't offer a way to alter existing tables, I think
that your best bet would be to recreate the blank tables and then copy and
paste the contents.

Thanks Sonia,

Since there were lots of table involved, I was reluctant to recreate all of
them. Only some rows and columns were involved in each. I found that when I
copy and paste a bad column, it comes in with regular borders (i.e., no
arrows), then I can delete the original column and repeat for other rows and
columns. This is faster than redoing all the tables and reformatting them
again.

I notice that if I carry out the fix described in the MS article, it only
works in the presentation that is open at the time. If I then open another
presentation similarly afflicted, the "border arrows" return.

Thanks for letting us know. I wasn't able to replicate the situation and
test for faster solutions. Glad you found one, even though it's still a
pain.
