Hi I was doing housecleaning of my pc using my antivirus file manager
software. It cleaned up alot of temp files left behind after
install/uninstall of software, web caches, history etc.... to the recycle
bin. I found these files that were clean:

SystemVolume...... (I can't remember the full name as I had restore them
back just in case)

Can these files be deleted from the recycle bin? Do these file relates the
system restore?

Yes they do. I'm surprised an external program touched these.
Only the OS should manipulate these files.
You may be able to resore them from the recycle bin, but the
integrity of SR is in question now.
It may be necessary to reset SR (turn it off; reboot;
turn it back on)

Yes, that is System Restore. However, as you may have noted along the way,
most cleaners ask you to stop System Restore before a cleaning, then
re-enable it once done. I would not restore a SR point sent to the recycle
bin but without knowing more, I can't offer any more advice.

What do u mean by reset SR? (create another restore point????)

I was not ask to stop System Restore (came with winxp) before cleaning (my
cleaner software). How can I stop System Restore manually and then re-enable
SR after the cleaning process is completed?

Thanks.

To reset System Restore completely, go to the System applet in Control
Panel and click on the System Restore tab. Then check the box that says
"Turn off System Restore", Apply and OK out. I usually reboot although
that may not be necessary. To turn System Restore on again, just
reverse your steps.

You can also delete all but the last System Restore point. When removing
malware, you may want to leave System Restore enabled to give you a
return point in case disaster strikes. Then after the system is clean,
go to Start>Programs>Accessories>SystemTools and start System Restore.
Make a new System Restore point and call it something clever like
"clean". Then use the Disk Cleanup More Options (Start>Run cleanmgr
[enter]) to delete all but that last Restore point.

Hi Apple,

What antivirus software allowed you access to these files? I just
wonder what else it would allow to be deleted! Sound rather dangerous
to me.
