I recently updated my windows media player, rebooted, and i guess that file
was corrupted. I need to find out if theres a way to get a few files out of
my hard drive before i reinstall windows. Either that or if theres a way to
get this file back onto windows, or even just to do a system roll back. The
computer wont run windows, just does about 5 seconds of start up and thats
it. Any ideas?

What is the exact error you're experiencing and where in the boot up process
does it appear?

Right when that blue scroll bar when windows is loading, but that doesnt show
up, its more of a black and white screen after bios loads up. an error
message comes up saying unable to run windows the file system32/hal.dll is
missing or corrupt

Go to Kelly's site at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm . Click on
