Please help. The system32 file suddenly has appeared
during Windows XP start up. I close the file and then it
pops back up. This happens at least two to three times
before the file will finally stop popping up. How do I
get this file to stop showing up on start up.

Greetings --

This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by
an incomplete program removal, in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

Not just a blank - but an entry that starts with a / (and probably other
things) which is seen as then being a 'switch' and terminates the name
of the program. One example comes from an entry /L:ENG added by
drivers for Audigy cards
