Hello,

I don't like my system tray - there I've said it. There
are just too many icons in it and even with the majority
of them hidden it's just unsightly. I have managed to
remove pretty much all of them and it's starting to look
better but there are icons from disconnected network
connections that I would like to get rid of if possible.
I want to keep the connections there as I use them
occasionally but would like the icon removed from the
system tray when it's disconnected. Can this be done?

Cheers

Dunner

Join the club. Installed programs think it is their right to eat up your
system resources by installing their icons on the tray when in many cases
they aren't needed. Using MSCONFIG to remove these tray items isn't the
best solution, but should be used only if conventional options fail.

Identify each icon and determine if you want it resident on your tray. If
not, open the program and look in the "options," "preferrences," or other
configuration menu item--then look for an option to install an icon on the
system tray. If you find it, uncheck it.

Also check for startup items in \Documents and Settings\[username]\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup and delete those you don't want to load at startup.
