On some bootups my tray icons all appear and on some bootups none of
them appear. When they dont appear I have to restart and then they
are there. Is there a fix for this behavior? Thanks, Tony

This is a flaw withing XP which is caused by certain programs starting
before certain services. If you do not need UPnP services you can disable
them by going to the control panel>admin tools>services. I am not at a
windows xp computer so I can't rememeber but there is one other service you
need to disable which refers to UPnP (starts with remote). With these
disabled your icons should always appear.
Some work arounds are to log off and log back on. Or shutdown explorer.exe
in the taskmanager and then restarting it by going to start>run> type in
explorer.exe

Well known XP bug. There are a raft of fixes, some of which work for
some people some of the time. The best site to find them all is
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm

and bookmark her site while you're there, because you'll be back (if not
to that page, then elsewhere on the site).
