In the system tray, I am having problems with the icons
loading when I restart or turn on my computer. Sometimes
the icons will load and other times they won't. I have
configured several of the icons to "always show", but
they still don't always load when I restart the
computer. How can I get the icons to load everytime the
computer starts?

The name for the System Tray was changed in XP to the Notification Area.

Right click the Tasbar and select Properties. Remove the check mark from the
Hide inactive icons option.

If this does not fix the problem, go to MVP Kellys website and get her
Taskbar Repair Tool.

Ronnie,
I tried Kelly's repair program and if anything, it's
worse now than it was before. It did NOT fix the
problem, and now alot of icons I had in the notification
area are not even on the list! Obviously the Taskbar
Repair Tool doesnt work.

thanks for getting back to me on this matter, Ronnie.
You told me to post a response for everybody to see, then
you don't give me any more help in getting the problem
solved. Your initial response did nothing to solve my
problem.

Sorry about the delay.

You need to post the specific details about what you have tried and what
worked or did not work. Which options did you try in the TB+ program?

Did you try the first recommendation I gave you about de-selecting the hide
inactive icons option? Did you reboot after de-selecting this option? What
were the results?

The icons in the Notification Area all represent programs that are
configured to start when the system is started or re-started, have you
checked these programs to make sure that the option to start on boot is
enabled? Do the programs still appear in the Start Up tab of MSConfig?
(Start/Run/ type msconfig and press OK)

Let me know.
