My system tray does not show the icons for the various
programs that are loaded at start-up, such as the volume,
the battery, the printer, the touchpad, etc. I did not
find any documents in the knowledge base. Does anyone
know what to do about this problem? If I do a system
restore, most icons will show (except the battery). If I
restart, almost no icons show. I really need the battery
icon and the volume icon. How can I FORCE Windows XP to
show these?

Right-click a blank area in System Tray, then click on "Customize
Notifications..." in the pop-up menu. In the dialog box, click on each item
needing change, then click on area to the right to get the list of three
options, click on wanted one to select. OK, then Apply and OK to set and
close.
