My XP Pro laptop is connected to a W2K3 network but my system time is
always approx 2 minutes behind the server time. Should they not be the
same? The other desktop workstations on the network are. I have tried
commands like w32tm /resync which complete without error but it has no
effect. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Take a look at "Synchronizing your computer clock" in Windows Help and "Time
server troubleshooting" for some possibly useful info on this. Are you a
domain member with a network running a time server?

Note that you can force a synch your PC clock with a sever with this command
(the /Yes is optional to suppress a confirm prompt.)
net time \\servername /set /Yes
