I am trying to perform a system state backup, but there
is no check box as in the step by step instructions...
any ideas?? Need to backup my registry, etc.

Create a restore point. Restore points consist of your system state.

Figures! I can't create a restore point as all I get is
a huge blank screen...no calendar, nothing! I have gone
through all of the help articles I can find in microsoft
and so far nothing has made any difference.
I thought it may have something to do with scripting as I
am sure I have a corrupt scripting engine. The only
option I have left there is to re-install Win xp, but am
afraid I will screw that up
too!

Further help appreciated,
Rhonda

Re-install Windows? Kind of drastic. No need.

Restore points sometimes become corrupted, usually as a by-product of a
virus. You need to turn off system restore on all drives, then reboot. This
permanently deletes all restore points. After Windows has restarted, turn
system restore on again and create a restore point. You're back in business.

Did that.....no help. I looked at the system volume
information folder and noticed that the _restore{558C94FD-
367F-4954-A02D-26679E6D849E} folder no longer exists. I
understand this is where the restore points are stored.
What action can I take to get it back or can I....will it
help? Why is it gone?

Thanks Again
