Has anybody else had any problems with System Restore
after installing SP2
.
It depends on what type of computer you have. I know my
HP had a fix before installing SP2 that had to be
installed before and if it was not, then the system
restore would not work.

That's a rather vague statement!
I've noticed recently (and I don't know whether it
started before or after the XP upgrade) that my computer
doesn't retain restore points. Yesterday I created one
and today it's not listed???
Anybody know why?

Check your System Properties/System Restore and see which drives are
selected for monitoring. The upgrade may have turned off monitoring on your
drive(s).

I coudn't create restore points after SP2 installed. Found a reference to
IISAdmin service preventing winupdate from installing some updates. Using
msconfig(start run msconfig) I unchecked the IISadmin on the services tab,
click apply and close, restart. My updates installed and I was able to create
restore points again. you can use msconfig to re check the IISadmin service
on services tab and restart but creating restore points just hangs again. I'm
still working on a better fix but this will allow restore to work.

This system restore question is becoming a hard solve for me. I too have XP
with SP2 , and cannot get it to stay on, which makes it difficult when trying
to re-install Norton etc.
I tried your suggestion even with Admin priv settings, but it wont stay on
the screen long enough to do as you suggest.

Is there a fix coming do you think? After all , what is the point of the
Restore if it does not work.?

Many thanks,

Russ
