System Restore

I can't restore to any of the highlighted dates. It goes
through the motions, restarts my computer and tells me it
was unable to restore. Any ideas? I've been plagued with
a CWS pest for about 2 weeks now. I've used Pest Patrol
but it keeps reappearing everytime I start IE. Could this
be a reason why I can't use System Restore?

It's hard to say without seeing the machine. Try the latest version of
CWShredder, from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html and also
run Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org) and
Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com). Be sure to update these programs
before running them. These programs are free, so run them both since
they complement each other. Do the scans in Safe Mode. You may also
want to run HijackThis from the same place you get CWShredder. Please
read the instructions carefully, and do not post your HijackThis log in
this newsgroup. There is a place for that on the forums at
www.spywareinfo.com, as well as expert help with the evil CoolWeb
Search malware. And just as an aside, although this doesn't have
anything to do with CWS, make sure you have a current antivirus
installed using updated definitions, are using a firewall, and have
patched your operating system at Windows Update.
