My PC its 4 months old, and just noticed when I use System Restore I can not go back to pass months. I click the arrow to go back to the previous month and just doesnt work. I can only see Restore Points for the present month...How can I change that...I tried to reset System Restore Settings but nothing there that can help me...Thx for any information

Hi,

Have you tried allocating more hard drive space for System Restore?

To do this, right click your My Computer and then select Properties.
Then when the System Properties appears, click on the System Restore tab,
and then adjust the slider all the way to the right to allocate more hard
drive space for System Restore Points.

Hi Tony

If you can't access the previous months it means that there are checkpoints
there. You can adjust the amount disk space for SR by:

Right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties and then the System
restore tab. Highlight the appropriate drive and then click the Settings
button. You can adjust the slider to increase/decrease the amount for SR.

Hello,

This is probably because System Restore does not have enough space to store
all the restore points. You can give it more space by doing this:

Right click "My Computer", and click Properties.
Click on the "System Restore" tab.
Increase the "Disk space usuage"

Oops - Rephrase:

If you can't access the previous months it means that there *aren't* any
checkpoints there.

Thanks.

System Restore is intended to be used to get you back to a time when your
system was working correctly. Even though it has a Calendar to go back
previous months doesn't mean that it will even restore correctly if too much
time has elapsed. If you want to have backup of your system from different
time periods you would do better to invest in a imaging program that will
allow you to take full system "snapshots" and save these to another drive or
removable media. I use SR to take me back a few days at most and then
periodically make full system backups using Ghost for those times that I
really need to go back a few weeks or months.
