system restore

What exactly does the "system restore" option do and is
it wise to use and is there a downside. I have a
computer problem and I am wondering if it is possible to
turn back the clock so to speak. Is this what "system
restore" does?

Hi i have just done this my self the only down side it
that you lose all your settings so take a note of them
and or do a back up of your system but the best bit is
that it should fix any problems that you have had and it
cleans out all the junk so it dose what it says it
restores your computer back to the day you took it out of
the box before you go ahead get all the disks that you
will need to restore the programs that you are useing the
big down side is re installind the windows updates you
could look for a free disk that comes with some of the
computer mags other than that have fun
