I want to do a MCAfee scan and it advises me to turn off System Restore, but
when I try to do it I get a warning that all previous restore points will be
wiped out. Is that true?

I thought that when you check it back again you keep all the information you
had before.

Hope you can understand what I'm talking about...

Peter

Hi,

Turning off System Restore will remove all existing restore points. Set the
McAfee software to not scan the \System Volume Information folder and ignore
that advice. If a virus is detected, first clean it off the system and then,
when you are sure it's gone, disable System Restore to purge any remnants of
the bug. If you do it first, you leave no fail safe in the event your virus
cleanup goes awry.
