system restore

Anyone having trouble with system restore not restoring ? Also wont let you
change months to go back to March or any others ? Any suggestions for a fix ?

I need tp restore my system to the place where it was at the beginning of
October. When I open the system restore wizard it only lets me go back to
the beginning of January. Is there a way of going back earlier? In other
words, if I go back to the beginning of January, will it allow be to go back
earlier? Is thhere another way?
 
Hi,

No, System Restore will not go back that far. By default System Restore
holds restore points for a maximum of 90 days. There are other factors
that can limit the amount of restore points stored, such as the amount
of disk space allocated to hold them and the size of each restore point.
So the available (bold) dates are the only choices.

Now saying that, System Restore is best used immediately after a problem
arises. Using SR more a week or two could very well cause more problems
than it solves.

System restore is not a backup solution. It's intended as an immediate
fix to a recent problem. At most it will go back 90 days but in
practice a week or two is the most that's viable. System restore does
not monitor data files.
