My computer is set with restore checkpoints. When I use them I get a message
saying that it has been unable to retsore to the requested date.

Can anyone explain why this is and what I should do?

Hi Jeff, If you haven't gotten an answer yet, I had the same problem. I
tried to restore my xp and it wouldn't let me. So I clicked on Help and
Support and did a restore. It worked! I think I had a virus, and it
wouldn't let me restore it from the start-program-accessory way. But set your
own restore point.. Try it.

Thanks Connie,

It does work, but I have lost previous restor points and therefore the
settings. Also having problems with downloads sow I guess this PC (only 2
years old is playing up big time.

Solution...Chuck it and upgrade.
