I have reformated my drive back in September nad since reinstalling Windows,
my system restore does not work. When I try to activate it from the
administrative tools, I get the "error 126 the specified module could not be
found".

I have not found any information on this anywhere, so...

How do I go about fixing this?

Thanks!

Hi

Try re-installing System Restore:

Open Windows Explorer and go to the windows\inf folder. Find the sr.inf
file, right click on it and select Install.

Well that would have been too easy.
So I tried.
It then asks me to find the file on my install CD.
After I locate de file, I get the error "The target fileexists & is newer
then the source file fro the files "sr.sys and srclient.dll.
I tried to delete these files but the srclient always re-appears... even in
safe mode.
The it concludes with an installation failed.
Bummer!

Hi

Are you running SP2? If so which CD are you trying to find the file on -
one from a previous version of XP?

....odd, for some reason I coudn't access the newsgroup anymore...
Anyway, I am using Sp2 and I was trying to get the files back from the
original cd. However, after you asked, I tried to load the files from SP2 but
the "srclient" still comes right back up.
