System Restore

I would like to restore my computer to an earier date than
allowing me. May 7th is the earliest date, I was hoping for
something around late April. Or is there any way to
completely restart your computer to put it back to the
beggining? Another question about system restore, does it
delete files you put on there such as songs from cd's that
I ripped onto the computer. Help on this would be extremely
appriciated since I cannot find anything else to answer
these questions on Microsoft.
 
Well im here to help!! I dont think windows wants you to restore to an earlier date for some reason. I thought you could go back as far as you wanted. To answer your question, if you do a restore will you loose your music and other files? No, it keeps those all on there. The only other thing it will do is put the programs that you had on awhile ago back on. Say if you uninstalled them. They will be back on and you will have to unistall them again. The only way to have your computer "Restarted over" is to reinstall XP. Im a genious at it so if you need help let me know. I suggest you backup any files you may want to keep onto a floppy or a cd. Because we'd have to clear the hard drive! So let me know if you need help on installing windows xp again!! Thanks! Keep me posted!!
 
Well why won't windows want me to restore before that? I
want to restore becuase I got virus' on my comp and I know
exactly when I got them and ever since I got them my
computer didn't act the same. Like a computer game using
the disc drive kept shutting down automatically and then
internet explorer wasn't working right and garbage like
that. Now Kazaa-lite won't even start up anymore and I've
reinstalled it several times. But my computer is def. not
working the same as it was before and I was hoping a system
restore could fix this problem.

Nope, i think the only way to fix your problem at this time is to reinstall
windows XP. That may be the only solution right now. If you would like some
help reinstalling xp please contact me! Thanks!
