I have tried to use System Restore to restore XP an
earlier date and it will not do it. I have a conflict
with some software I installed and uninstalled it but
still have the conflict and want to go back before I
installed the software. But System Restore will not let
me. It only gives me the present date to restore to. I
want to go back several weeks. I had done it before
several months ago and it worked. I checked the
knowledge base and did everything it said and the System
Restore is enabled. I do "create restore date" and it
will not work. ONly the present date of today comes up.
I also check restore and it will not work. Appreciate
any help on this.

For starters, ensure that the System Restore Service is set to "Automatic".
Start>Run, then type in "services.msc", click "OK" and scroll down to System
Restore Service. If it's not running , there's your solution. Set it to
"Automatic" and reboot.

If that's not a problem one of your hard drives may be nearly full - if
there is not a certain amount of space available on either drive, System
Restore does not work and all your earlier restore points are deleted.

It is and was set on automatic and still does not work
and my hard drive is 3/4 empty so that is not it either.
Any other suggestions?
