System Restore

Hope someone can help me, I installed Nero Vision about a month or more ago, on my new HP so I could make VCD's. Anyway I got it working and got one VCD made, then poof, it blew out my CDR-DVD combo driver. So I tried reinstalling the driver from HP, New updated drivers from HP, I uninstalledNero Vision, I've done damn near everything. So I've gone without a burner for awhile now, and now I'm running out of hard drive space, I got about 3 gig out of 60 gig left. Then my boss told me to do a System Restore, I had now clue that I could do that, anyway, I have tried going back as far as it would let me, and was getting an error saying that something had changed on the drive. So I went about a week forward and I found a dat that it would let me restore to, so I started the restore process, it gets about halfway through and then reboots, everything looks fine, but after the system boots up all the way, it gives me an error that the restore was not completed, then I tried a few other days, and got the same result. So I'm running out of options, and I need some help. Any Ideas.
