System Restore

I loaded Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator on my system and it created a huge
problem with my Norton Systemworks 2005. Norton now requires reactivation. I
uninstalled Roxio and tried reactivating with no luck. Contacted Symantec and
so far they have been unable to fix the problem.
My question is - if I do a system restore to before I loaded Roxio would
this solve the problem?

Thank you.

Bert,

I have been using the Norton AV since Nov/04 and just installed Roxio on
Thursday April 28/05 so there will be a restore point in the system. I will
give it a try.

Thanks.

Hi Bob,

If Roxio created a restore point before the install, use it. Otherwise
restore to the day before.
If there where any programs installed between then and now, they will
have to be reinstalled.

Let us know how you made out.

Bert,

When I went to system restore it was turned off. The same thing happened
when I needed to use it before (about 5 months ago). What would make it turn
off? It was not turned off manually and I never had this problem until
recently. The only big changes to my system is I upgraded to SP2 in Oct/04
and installed Systemworks 2005 right after that.

Hi Bob,

RealOne Player has been known to cause this. Upgrading to the latest
version fixes this.

If not use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore errors?

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.

Click the Source tab to sort by name, look for "sr" and "srservice."

Double-click each of these services, and evaluate the event
description. Make note of the Description, EventID and Source of these
Event Properties that show an Error or Warning.
