I have tried to restore to earlier time, It goes through the process then
reboots and says my computer could not be restored and no changes have been
made. This computer is infected with something cause it closes IE, and has
lots of popups, yes it has popup software on. I don't know how this stuff
gets on my computer, but when it does, if I can't get rid of it with spyware
removal, or add/remove programs, I'll restore to a certain point. This
procedure had been working great, until 2 days ago. I went to restore to my
specific point I use to restore too. All went well. After a while I
realized that a program I had been working with wasn't there. I used search,
no luck. So, I went to undo last resoration, so I could put the program on
disc, then go back to the restore point I wanted. Well, it reversed it.
Wouldn't let me restore back to earlier time after I saved my program to
disc. It also had a lot fewer points to pick from and my favorite was not an
option, wouldn't let me go back that far. It said after going through the
process, that it could not be done. Why???? It just did it an hour ago!!!
Then today, the only point available is yesterday. Why do the restore points
"disappear" or become inaccessable, that were usable before. Why won't
restore work now? Did something happen when I undid that one restore???

Hi

Please try these programs to check for any spyware that may be on your
system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://forum.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com

Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

If you have the same error mesage with *all* System Restore checkpoints:

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.
