System Restore question

No, it should not be disabled, and the impact on system performance is
negligible. It only creates automatic restore points on an infrequent
basis.

Should it be disabled as many recommend for Windows XP? Will it speed up
XP? Thanks.

I would definitely not recommend disabling. There are one or two people
- not *many* - recommending that you disable it. especially one who
floods the group with his unsupported diatribe. It is a valuable tool,
and does not take any appreciable time - up to a minute at the most,
once a day in an idle period.

But it *is* to be recommended that if it gives trouble, you disable it,
reboot, have Folder Options - View set to show Hidden files, and *not*
Hide Protected mode ones. Then clear out all its files in System
Volume Information and start over. And when you start it up again,
check the settings for the drive(s) - and probably cut down the space it
is allowed to use. I suggest under 1GB and use 500MB myself
