Hi. When I try to run system restore I get the following message:

"System restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run system restore again."

I have restarted and tried again but it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Karl,

Try opening 'Control Panel' 'Administrative Tools' 'Services'

Scroll down the list to 'System Restore Service' check that under Status it is
Started. If not click on it and click on 'Start the service' you should now be good to go.

Sorry Karl '
Almost forgot.
Click on 'System' in 'Control Panel' FIRST in the new window click the 'System Restore ' Tab and make sure the Turn off System Restore box is NOT CHECKED!

Then try again.

hi thanks for helping with all my questions.

when i did this it says "could not start the system restore service on local computer. error 5:access is denied"

any clue?

thanks again

Did you check that the Click on 'System' in 'Control Panel' in the new window click the 'System Restore ' Tab and make sure the Turn off System Restore box is NOT CHECKED First?

Do you have Administrative rights?

hi. the box is unchecked and i'm logged on as administrator. thanks for helping again.

Sorry my fault for screwing up with my earlier replies.
To get this straight,
First thing you did was...you have ensured the box was unchecked. Yes?
Next you went to the Admin. Services and ensured System Restore Service had Started under the status... was it showing Started or not?
You did do these in this order correct?
Once again sorry for being so slow on the up take but these all nighters can really wear one down.
