Andy.
Is it enabled at "services control panel" as well as "system control
panel". The points are normally lost if the restore sectionis either
goofed up or disabled.

Hi Andy,

Some good info on System Restore:

Hi Andy,

There are several reasons this may occur. Let's take a look at Event
Viewer for any System Restore logs that may have been created recently
that may help us diagnosing the problem.

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
Click on System in the left pane.
Click the gray title “Source” at the top of the source name column in
the right pane to sort by source name, look for "sr" and "srservice".
Double click on each of these events, then click on the button below the
two arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event
information to the clipboard. Paste the information for each of the two
event here.

How do I use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore logs?

Hi Bert,

No sr listings but lots of srservice listings, all reading as below with
different dates/time.

Hi Bert,

I can't as every time I boot up SR is switched off and when I switch it back
on all restore points are lost.

I can switch SR back on and create a new retore point, however, as soon as I
switch off and re-boot, SR is switched off again and the restore point is
lost.

Very annoying!

Andy.

Further

I just realised the SR service I sent was an odd one out,

most reports read thus...................

Event Source: SRService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 116

Time: 5:12:38 PM
