Hi,

I had close to two months of system restore points. This error (see
below) shuts down the system restore process. The process does
restart, but the event wipes out all the system's restore points. So,
all my restore points are now lost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, restore points do sometimes become corrupted, often by
viruses. Once they are corrupted, a restore point is unusable. And since
restore points cannot be individually deleted, your only recourse now is to
delete all restore points and start 'fresh' by creating a new restore point.

Having said that, the loss of a restore point is not usually something to
worry about, given the limited content of a restore point. For example, no
user data files (documents, spreadsheets, pictures, etc.) are included in a
restore point. And, in any case, system restore is no substitute for a
backup. With regular backups, you can sail through the storms of computing
with hardly a splash.

You do have antivirus software, right? Be sure that it's set to run in the
background at all times and update your virus definitions weekly, at least.
