I am having some problems with Windows Outlook on my computer for some weeks
now, decided to try System Restore for the first time, selected a date as
requested ,about a month previously, and set the task in motion, after
waiting for it to go through the motions, and rebooting it's self etc, it
informs me it cant do the change. Tried again, a different date and Month
one highlighted on that month selected of I go again, same results as
before any suggestions !!

Regards
Tony.

Tony;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

As for the Outlook issues, I suggest you try one of the Outlook
newsgroups:
http://aumha.org/nntp.htm
If you mean Outlook Express, look for an Outlook Express newsgroup,
there is a difference.

Why anyone puts faith in System Restore is beyond me. Folks, scrap SR & get
GoBack from Symantec. It works & is 1000% better then buggy SR. It creates
restore points as you go along automatically. Even if you can't boot into
Windows you can use GoBack to restore to a point when you could. I love
this program - it has saved my bacon several times. At $40 US it's a steal
(and no, i'm not an employee of Symantec !! :-) )

Thanks for the info Ray, I already have Norton's Anti Virus installed, I
will have a look into there Go Back and see if it's available here in
Australia , I'm sure it will be ,and I will give it a try.

Thanks

Tony..

Hi Tony

Before you turn SR off and use GB, try and find someone you know that has
used GB and is able to give you a preferable reason why you should purchase
GB instead of using SR. There are a lot of scaremongers that have had one
bad experience with SR and then write it off!!

Tony;
System Restore and Go-Back are not really the same.
System Restore is primarily for system files and is limited on what
else is restored.
No personal files among other things are not restored.
Because System Restore is not as comprehensive as Go-Back there is far
less overhead.
Go-back can use a lot of resources.

Go-Back is more like a back-up application since all files are saved.
However neither Go-Back or System Restore is a replacement for regular
back-ups.
You still need a plan, not including System Restore or Go-Back, to
back-up your important data in case of problems.

See this about System Restore:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/faqsrwxp.mspx
Go-Back:
http://www.symantec.com/goback/

You really can not fairly compare the products since they do not share
the same purpose.
