If I try to Restore my System, I get the usual option to restore to various
dates, times etc. Whatever restore point I select, after the computer
re-boots, I get a message that the restore was unsuccessful.

What can I do to get this function working correctly?

Rt click MyComputer>select Properties>System Restore>check the box " Turn
off Restore on all Drives" click Apply, Ok
Restart and reverse the procedure.

Thanks Rich. I've tried this before and again today. All is OK at the moment,
but it didn't sort the problem over the longer trem. Will be patient this
time & get back if the probs recur. Thanks again for the tip. Regards, Jon

Many thanks Bert, will see how the Disable/ Enable routine works, then try
your methods! Kind regards,
Jon

All was OK with only 1 restore point, but today, tried to restore to
yesterday's point, failed! Got msg 'Restoration Incomplete Cannot restore to
System Checkpoint...' Back to square 1! Any more thoughts please?

Hi Bert,
I've tried disable/enable, it failed to restore to yesterday's restore
point. I've now tried disabling Norton Internet Security 2006, then
restoring. No dice! Still won't restore. Anything else I can do?

Yes, look at the rest of the solutions on the following page.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to take when System Restore fails to
restore:
http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html

Let's also take a look at Event Viewer for any System Restore logs that may
have been created recently that may help us diagnose the problem.

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
Click on System in the left pane.
Click the gray title “Source†at the top of the source name column in the
right pane to sort by source name, look for "sr" and "srservice".
Double click on each of these events, then click on the button below the two
arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event information to
the clipboard. Paste the information for each of the two event here. There’s
no need to post duplicate Event ID’s.

How do I use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore logs?
