System Restore in Vista

Decided to make this a new thread. Can you tell me please how to remove the
old restore points? I only want to keep the very recent ones. The restore
points seem to use so much memory (several GBs)
 
Hello Martin,

You can remove all restore points but the most recent one.

Open Cleanmgr.exe, and then click "Files from all users on this computer".
Select the volume, and click OK. When the progress bar finishes, select the
"More Options" tab, and then click Clean up.

hello,

In oder to do this you will have to deselect all your drives as being
monitored by system restore, and then re-enable it..

To do this in vista Go to START button> Control Panel> and select the SYSTEM
icon, then a window will pop up, from the links on the left select
system protection, a new window will pop up, you will see your drives there
with checkmarks, uncheck them and press apply,
wait a few minutes until the hard disk stops thrashing then press the CREATE
button in order to create a new restore point and dont forget to put the
checkmark back on the drive (usually C) that was being monitored.. see
screenshot

Reduce the amount of space allocated for system restore.
Open an Admin command prompt.

To display the current space allocated type (or copy and paste) “vssadmin
list
shadowstorage†(without the quotes) Press Enter.

To reduce (or increase) the disk space allocated, type (or copy and paste)
“vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize=6GB.†(without the
quotes) Press Enter. Example assumes changing the space on
drive C to 6GB. Create a restore point immediately after resizing.

Won't this delete ALL THE RESTORE POINTS - I don't want to do that.Thanks

Yes thats why I told you to create a new one afterwards..

the method Daniel Martin also said is valid and works perhaps better
