I go to system restore and pick a restore point - click nect - and it just
sits there - never DOES anything. Lot my printer yesterday and cannot go
back! Please help!
Thanks
Keith

Hi,

Use the add hardware wizard in the control panel to try and redetect the
printer. As far as system restore goes, basically once it goes bad all you
can do is stop and restart it. This has the unfortunate side effect of
losing all existing restore points, so is going to be useless as far as
recovering from your current problem.

So - even if it says there are restore points - they do not exist? OUCH!
How do I restart it so it begins to work again?
Thanks
Keith

Hi Keith,

They exist, they just won't work. Click start/run, type services.msc and
click ok. Scroll down and locate the System Restore service and doubleclick
it. Click the stop button, then set the startup type dropdown to disabled.
Click apply/ok, then reboot.

Then, check the "System Volume Information folder" on each drive (you may
need to set folder options/view tab to see hidden and system folders for
this) and delete any contents. Reverse the steps to restart it.

Rick,
You said: hen set the startup type dropdown to disabled.
Click apply/ok, then reboot. but I cannot find and dropdown to set to
disabled??
Humm.......

Then you didn't double click the service, but rather just used the stop
option in the services window. You need to open the service to change it on
the general tab - it will be right in the middle.
