System requirements for Multimedia Center Edition?

I have reinstalled XP Pro 6 times this year to fix a recurring problem
of "lost" drives. The entire C partition just vanishes, later to be
seen as raw data format, unrecoverable. In my frustration that I
may have too much loaded to the 800mhz Athlon, and an old XP edition
pre-SP1, can I use MCE on this processor? If not, since I have built
my own system, what are the minimum hardware requirements? What do I
need extra to take advantage of the multimedia features. Please
don't ask me to post to another group. I don't find an MCE group on
my IP group list.
