system recovery on an HP with Windows XP

Hi
I need your help again...I did a system recovery according to my owners manual with the option of Non-Destructive System Recovery to reinstall the original software WITHOUT erasing user data on the hard disk. After it was done, It looked as though all my user data was gone,( my user name on the Welcome Screen, Outlook Express email accounts were gone, all the desktop, favorites,msn, msn messenger 6.1 & settings.
Now as I look in Windows Explorer under Documents and Settings, I see my old account & all my favorites, pictures ect..
My question is ::: How do I get all these back to the way they were, before I did the recovery? When I go into Outlook Express, Windows Messenger,My Pictures and looking at my desktop, everything is all new from the 1st day I got the computer,( None of these programs are set up ) although I do see my stuff in Window Explorer. I don't want to touch anything or resetting up OE, Msn, & Settings, if there is a way of copying or somehow renaming this new account to my old one or just renaming this new Owner to my old account or vise-versa. My owners manual did not explain too much after it is done & I'm lost no
