My second computer was working fine until yesterday, when logging on resulted
in it hanging. When it gets to saying something like "Loading user
preferences", it stays on that screen. I've left it on for over an hour and
nothing happened. I also tried the standard key combos that would typically
help in this situation, ctrl+alt+dl and even Alt+F4 but nothing happens. It
is critical to me that I get the system working again, so is there anything I
can do? Note that because I can run Knoppix (Linux distribution) on cd-rom
and it runs fine, I can view the files on the windows partition of my Hard
Drive, but i can't modify anything due to certain limitations. Please assist
me as soon as you can. Thank you.
