I have a database with it's very own "system.mdw" file.
All security has been set, and without this file you can not open the
database.
This database has a front end that users install on their workstation, and a
backend which resides on a server. These databases point to the custom mdw
file which is also on the server so everyone should be able to access it.
However, upon installing the front end on a user workstation, by default
their Access points to the user's default system.mdw file on their
workstation - not the one on the server associated with this database. I
don't want the install process to have this manual element of having to
redirect everyone's workgroup admin file to the server one, it should do it
automatically when opening this database. How can I ensure this?
Also, this redirection leads to a second problem. If the user, with the
redirection of the workgroup admin file to the one on the server for the
stated database, attempts to open some other Access database, they are asked
for the user login information associated with the original database stated
above. It seems, this redirection, becomes the new default .mdw file for all
Access databases, and has to be manually changed each time a user wants to
open a different database?
Thanks in advance for your help.
