I recently upgradedmy system to Windows XP Pro and
noticed that after my computer is on for a while and
sometimes all night it will freeze up and I have to power
down by pulling it's power source and rebooting
afterwards. Keyboard and mouse are inoperative unless I
do this.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

The problem could be the display adapters. Check if you have updated drivers for windows xp. then go to device manager in window xp and under display adapter, uninstall the driver and you will be prompted to reboot the computer. when the computer reboots you can install the updated drivers for windows xp.

Go to control panel -> power settings (my windows is finnish, so i don't
really know about these names).
then set all the dropdown menus to "never"

If you haven't solved your problem, and if you haven't
already checked, go to Control Panel > Performance and
Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer (open
it and click) System (over on the left). Do you see on
the right an error pointing to ACPI as the source of the
problem? If so, double click the error entry to see what
the error description is. Perhaps you have the problem
of something trying to read an illegal port that falls
within a protected group of ports. My just abandoned
computer did, and I have been unable to obtain an updated
BIOS, and it is not worth replacing the motherboard in
the computer. It was freezing every few minutes, and the
only way I could get control was to turn the power off.
