I just received email updates q382285.exe and
patch3366.exe and installed them onto my computer. Now I
can no longer get into any programs on my computer. I
tried going through the main program folder and it still
pops up that it is null. I am in a panic--everything for
our company is on my computer. the system will not even
allow me to go through my programs to do a restore--what
are my options???

Hi

Did those 'emails' come from 'Microsoft'? If so they were hoaxes and the updates you installed are viruses. You will have to virus check your system with the latest definitions for your AV program ASAP.

The email said Microsoft--my system won't even let me
into the virus program now. Norton said it detected a
virus and I quarantined it but now nothing works. HELP?

I have a nother suggestion if you're using Windows XP
Pro. Reboot your machine and press the F8 key. It will
take you into a menu with a long list of options.
Select "Last Known Good Configuration". This will reset
you computer back to the way it was before it became
corrupt. I hope this helps!

I tried the LKGC--it didn't work--I can use the explorer
and check my email--I can get into my data, but none of
my programs work at all--if the suffix is exe or dll, etc
it won't run. Other options?

Hi

I'm afraid that you may be looking at 'clean' install of XP, which will delete everything on your hard disk. If you can get to your data files, you can at least back those up:

"Clean Install Windows XP"

Courtesy of MVP Michael Stevens.

Maybe one of the Security gurus have come across these files before, but I can't find any reference to either of them anywhere.

You might like to try the microsoft.public.security.virus or the alt.comp.virus news groups to see if you can get any help there.
