system idle process

when i first bought my computer, i remember my system idle
process not hogging my cpu. as i type it is bouncing
around 97 and my start menu takes 4 mins to load. it is
really frustrating, is ther any way to get that number
down? or can i just end it?

System Idle Process is exactly what it sounds like.
It is the % of processing power you have waiting for something to do,
doing nothing.

If you are having problems, this is not the cause.
