Please do not hijack a thread, even if you think your issue is similar
to the Original Poster's. Also, please quote some of the previous post
for clarity.
To both of you: the files you are talking about are not Windows files.
The system.exe file is a trojan. If you ran your antivirus (using
updated definitions) and it cleaned your system, it left a reference to
this file in Startup. Go to Startup>Run and type "msconfig" without the
quotes. Look on the Startup tab and find the likely culprit. Uncheck
the box next to its name.
In both cases, be sure you have a current (post-2002 version using
updated definitions) antivirus installed and regularly remove spyware.
You can remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure
to update these programs before running them. These programs are free,
so run them both since they complement each other. It is best to run
antivirus and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode.
