I'm not sure if I am posting to the correct newsgroup so here goes nothing.
After a large update for Windows Vista Home Basic--restarting computer--a
box down by the task bar "System Event Error" appeared. What is this?? I
know nothing about computers so I went where it directed me--Event Viewer--
there is a whole bunch of stuff as errors and warning signs. Am having no
trouble with my laptop and seems to be doing what it is suppose to do
without any problems and the box has not appeared again (so far). The only
thing I can think of is I keep the User Account control "OFF". Since some of
the updates where vista and vista security, could User acct off have been
the problem??
What do I do with all of the error stuff in Event Viewer??--errors scare me
to death!! Thank you for your help.

I think so. It is recommended to turn it on when you do any updates.

Also it is a very bad practice to set this option OFF--you are endangering
yourself as well as other people because you provide a fertile ground for
hackers to practice their dark arts. You better keep it on but learn how to
handle its peculiarities. It is not difficult. Needs some practice.

(e-mail address removed) thank you alexB for your information. User acct seems to
be a pain but I will leave it ON as you suggested. What happens to all of
the errors and warning signs in the event viewer? Do I try to "refresh the
page" or just leave the way it is?? Will refreshing the page end up
deleting the "stuff"?
