Hello,

I got an error on my computer the other day
saying "verifying DMI pool data...disk boot failure insert
system disk...". So, i went to the ms website and
downloaded the necessary stuff for windows XP on 6
floppy's. Then, i put in floppy#1 and started the
computer. However, now, instead of giving me this error
message, it just keeps restarting itself.

Now, my computer came with windows ME, and I upgraded to
windows XP on my own. So, should I have downloaded the
set-up for Windows ME instead? If that doesn't matter,
than does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Thanks so much.

Adriana,

when, under what circumstances, did you get that error message?

Perhaps all you need is a boot diskette that circumvents the
boot sector. Instructions are on
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxBootDiskette.htm.

No. ME is gone for good. Now it's XP that you want to get back
up.

Hey,
This just happened when I tried to turn it on one day.
Nothing in the computer was changed. I was told that it
happened once before, but after a day or so when they
tried turning it on, it worked.

Thanks for your help.

Adriana,

don't we hate sporadic errors? But with tools to locate errors
improving, it's the sporadic errors, particularly those that
happen only very occasionally, that will keep angering us.

I hope your error will only appear so rarely that it's not a
problem.

I don't think the off-time matters. If the error reappears, you
could try shutting down and restarting everything, at least for
a test.
