How do I change system administrator settings when I didn't change anything?
When I try to change my home page, it says something about that function
being disabled by the system administrator. I own this computer, and I have
not changed or disable anything. Also (another problem) I can't log on the
internet explorer, but have no problem with firefox. When my wife logs on,
she has no problems.

What do you mean by "can't log on the internet explorer"? There is no logon
for that. In any case I suggest you post to the internet explorer newsgroup
and give some relevant details about what exactly happens, or doesn't, when
using internet explorer. Also post what version of IE.

Malware can make such changes at any time while you are surfing the
internet with administrator privileges and not applying the highest
security settings for the internet zone.
Also (another problem) I can't log on the internet explorer,

There is no log-on for the Internet Explorer.

"Hijack This" should give you control of your home page. Spybot S&D can
be set to prevent changing the home page; I believe Adaware can too.
There are registry settings that will let you change the home page, then
lock it where other software installs, and malware can't change it.

I found this page using a search engine:
