I have tried altering photo's, jpg files, copied from my
son's laptop. He uses windows xp pro. I am unable to alter
the photo's on my computer which has w98se. It is stating
I need to be a system administrator.
Can I log onto w98se as a system administrator?

No because there is no such thing on a 9x-based OS. What program was used
to create them?

The program I was using on my w98se computer was "Photo
Recall". I can open the files and review them but if I try
to crop, lighten, resize or make any changes at all I am
prevented because I am not logged in as a system
administrator on my w98se machine.

Then I cannot assist you further - as I stated before 'administrator' only
exists on NT-based OSes. There has never been any such user in any 9x-based
OS.
