When I open my account after boot up in XP the system 32 directory
automatically opens on the desktop. It is not in the start menu and
somewhere it has been set to load on start on the desktop- is there a way to
stop this?

This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by
an incomplete program removal, in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys. It can also
be caused by an entry in these same keys that starts with a " / ."

Thanks- worked like a charm, found an open command in the registry and fixed
it.

You're welcome.
