Im currently trying to deploy windows XP via sysprep. I
have sussesfully created and image that works on very
similar celeron boxes, however i would like to create an
image to work on other boxes. I've concluded that the HAL
is the problem because when I drop the image on a
dissimilar box it will not boot and when I try to boot in
safe mode it becomes stuck @ mup.sys. I'm just pondering
but if i made a small batch file that ran and asked which
HAL.sys i would like to use would this solve my problem?
I was thinking of just having every HAL**.sys and copying
it to HAL.sys in the windows\sys32 directory and letting
it go. Any feedback would be greatly appreaciated.

Andy,

That will not officially be supported. Although it might work the Microsoft
recommended solution is to use seperate images per machine / HAL type.
Example: ACPI Multiproc would have one image and ACPI Standard PC would
have another image.

Any other tips/tricks on how to get it to work with
multiple machines / HAL types

Uonfortunately, none that will result in systems that
can/will be supported.
