While surfing the net, a "dos" popup asked me to run syscheck. I declined
and closed the window.

My curiosity awakened, I found that syscheck was in C:\Program
Files\PCFriendly. Right click/properties gave the maker as "InterActual
Technologies, Inc."

I certainly didn't load this software. It might have come with the machine
(emachine T2042) or been loaded in the nearly daily "updates".

SO: Is "syscheck" for real? Is it a virus? If so, how was it
"installed?"

Who caused the popup to happen (as it who paid to have it including in a
website)?

hey man, i got interactual player... and syscheck isn't a
virus. it allows you to "test" your system so see if it
will support interactual player. the player itself was
bundled with my original software, so thats where it may
have come from. the player itself is not dissimilar to
powerdvd, it plays media like media player does.

hope this helps.

PCFriendly is often bundled with DVD's. If you put a DVD movie
in the PC it will often install itself automaticly. So if you
have a DVD drive and some DVD movies that's probably how it got
there.

You may find that InterActual software is automatically
installed from DVD movie discs.
