After running windows update, when I minimize a program, its not minimized
in the system tray.

I've removed/uninstalled the windows update - no help
I've tried to do a system restore to an earlier date-but for some reason,
the system restore won't take any earlier dates.

And I still have no programs in the sys tray.

HELP!

Right click the Taskbar and select Properties. At the bottom of this dialog box, make sure that Hide inactive icons is not selected.

I checked that before I posted in the first place.
The icons aren't the problem.
When a program (word, excel etc) is opened, it is supposed to reside in the
sys tray, even when minimized.
The programs aren't showing in the sys tray at all.
So, if I minimize a program, I can't restore it.
I can't close it or do anything - except reboot the computer.

This is quite troublesome, as I often go back & forth between several
programs.
