Sys Tray Icons Gone

Hi folks,

I'm running WinXP Home w/SP1 installed and am very happy with it.

Lately, on occasion, one or two icons in the sys tray completely
disappear. I have Call Wave's internet answering machine and today it
was gone after I minimized it. Also, a few days ago, the USB icon that
allows safe removal of the device was gone.

In both cases, logging off and back on brings the icons back with normal
behavior. As I said before, this happens only on occasion. Can anyone
advise if there is a fix?

Thanks, Fred

Hi Kelly,

After running the "vbs" file I found that the sys tray (notification tray) did
not have the button to expand the view and the patch removed the whole option to
see the icons and/or the "past" icons. I thought that patch would just clean the
"past" list.

I did not like the result so I ran System Restore and got back to where I was
before the patch. Will try disabling the SSDP - UPnP is already disabled.

Fred
