For as long you hold your cursor on the chevrons.

Click the chevrons to show the hidden icons and leave the cursor on the
chevrons. They stayed revealed for as long as I could stand watching them.

Can I extend (control) the amount of time hidden icons are revealed. If
so, how?

What are you asking? AFAIK there are not settings to control the hiding of
icons in the notification area other than by what's available from right
clicking the the task bar.

Right click on the taskbar, left click Properties, left click Customize.

Click a program and the down arrow (called a ComboBox) and select an option.

I hope this is what you are looking for.

That's as close as I can get without making all icons
revealed. That will work. Thank you.

Turn off all that eye candy and use classic windows desktop settings. Those
goofy chevrons disappear forever and never return.

Not true. I have a modified Windows Classic theme, the Theme service is
disabled and I have the Classic start menu and I have the chevrons. The
chevrons show that I am a corporal. << :-)
