Somehow I got these 2 files installed on my computer. (SyncroAd.exe and
WinSync.exe) I do not know what they are, and I want to get rid of them.
The 2 files are located at the C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd. They
start at Startup.

Can someone please help me get rid of these files?

This is what I have tried so far:
a.. I have tried deleting them in Explorer. (I am told that the file is
in use.)
b.. I have tried to End Process in the Windows Task Manager. (It just
restarts both files.)
c.. I have unchecked the box in MSConfig by SyncroAd. (It is the only
file of the 2 listed. It just rechecks the box and starts the 2 files on a
Restart.)
d.. I have tried using my Windows Startup disk thinking that I could
delete the files in DOS. I am not so smart about this area though, and my
Startup disk does not see any of my harddrives, so I cannot delete the
files. (I have my harddrives formatted in NTFS.)

Can somebody please help me? I do not like having things run on my computer
that I do not know what they are.

Thank you very much for your time.

I am not having any luck at all with this.

I went to the Website shown and it had some good information, but after I
bought Pest Patrol and ran it it did not get rid of either of these files.
I have even gone through the Windows Registry and deleted everything in
there about SyncroAd. It keeps placing the Registry values back into the
Registry.

So now, the new things I have tried is:
1. Pest Patrol.
2. Ad-Aware 6
3. Mcafee Virus Scan

Nothing is working. :(

Is there any other suggestions, please??

first I would turn off system restore, but beware that turning this off will
remove all restore points prior to this date. then restart machine, delete
files, clean registry. run ad-aware and spybot-"search and destroy".
hopefully then you will rid yourself of these files.

I just catched this trojan a few days ago. Ironically a few days AFTER
I installed SP2. I must say it is extremely aggresive.

It installed itself via ActiveX on a dodgy website.

It sails right through Norton Firewall, Norton Antivirus and Windows
XP SP2.

It cannot be killed with AdAware or Spybot S&D.

Here´s what I have done to get rid of it:

Boot up in Safe Mode, run HijackThis, check and fix these two lines
(and any other references you may see to dodgyness):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows SyncroAd] C:\Program Files\Windows
ncroAd\SyncroAd.exe
O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} -
http://public.windupdates.com/get_f...a7f1248299b0:61c349ac2c9d0346d02ce89775140bcf

Now delete this folder from explorer:
C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd

Now run S&D or adaware still in safe mode, and do a complete Virus
scan while you are at it.

I believe it has messed with my config files as my internet terminal
now does not start up properly at boot. More research is needed.

I think this must be a new trojan: I can hardly find any useful
information on it at all.

Good luck.
